The Eclipse Youth Fest
Past Event
The combination of Youth Week and the Solar Eclipse in April offers a perfect opportunity to engage and inspire young people in Meekatharra about science and astronomy while also providing a fun and exciting way to celebrate their talents and creativity.
On April 20, 2023, Western Australia will witness a rare celestial event, a total solar eclipse. The eclipse is expected to begin at around 10 am and will last for approximately two hours. During a total solar eclipse, the moon passes directly in front of the sun, casting a shadow on the Earth and causing the sky to darken. This unique phenomenon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
So come and join us at Youth Centre from 10 am – 2 pm for a day of fun in
the Shadows and Sunshine. Create some art, have some fun and games and a feed!
Contact Paulette at Youth Focus on 049944626 or Larra at the Meeka Shire on 9980 0600 for more information.
It is important to note that viewing a solar eclipse requires proper eye protection, so it is recommended to use certified eclipse glasses or other specialized equipment to ensure safe viewing. The shire will have some protective eyeglasses for people to view the eclipse.
