The Shire of Meekatharra expresses its sadness in the recent passing of the Shire of Upper Gascoyne Shire President Cr Donald (Don) Hammarquist OAM JP.  The Shire of Meekatharra and the community offer our most sincere condolences to the family, councillors, staff and community of the Shire of Upper Gascoyne at this time.

As a close neighbouring local government, the Shire of Meekatharra has had a close relationship with Don in his capacity as President of the Shire of Upper Gascoyne and he was highly regarded for his tireless passion and commitment to local government in our region.
